Cobras’ Weekend Brings Sweep of Owens Tournament

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Cobras wrapped up the weekend at the Owens Tournament in Perrysburg, Ohio on Sunday with a pair of wins over Muskegon in three sets—25-10, 25-22, 25-15 and then against Sinclair winning 25-13, 25-16, 25-14.

In the win against Muskegon, Sophomore outside hitter Ryleigh Warfel posted a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore setter Rachel Verdun also posted a double-double with 18 assists and 13 digs.

Leading the team in digs was Sophomore Brooke Norder with 19. Freshman setter Summerlyn Smith was also in double figures with assists with 13.

Parkland returned to the court for their final contest of the weekend against Sinclair with sophomore middle hitter Hannah Benson contributed 6 kills. Rachel Verdun was again in double figures with 20 assists and freshman defensive specialist Isabella Classen had seven digs

Parkland travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday for the Kirkwood Tournament with a 2 p.m. match against Central Nebraska and then facing No. 4 Kirkwood at 6 p.m.
