MALTA, Ill. –No. 19 Parkland women's basketball improved to 16-2, winning its fifth game in a row, with an 83-40 defeat of Kishwaukee College (5-11).
Despite sub-zero temperatures outside, the Cobras came out red-hot, scoring the first 16 points of the game. As the game progressed, the offensive blitz continued, led by
Bree Trimble (20 points, 3 steals), who was 4-4 from 3-point range, and whose scoring total was a career-high. As a team, Parkland converted 7 of 12 from beyond the arc, leading to an overall 50% in shooting from the field. In addition, the team was 16-18 from the charity stripe. Excellent ball movement and unselfish play throughout the game produced 27 assists on 30 baskets for the visitors.
Additional key Cobras contributors, both offensively and on the boards, included
Emily Meinert (16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists) and
Naomi McDaniel (14 points, 6 rebounds).
Alex Specht (4 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks) was especially strong defensively, sparking Parkland as it forced the Kougars into 30 turnovers and, at the same time, limited the home team to only 27% shooting from the field.
