DAVIE, Fla. –No. 8 Parkland women's basketball moved to 12-2 with a 66-58 win over Broward College (0-14). In a very physical matchup, the Cobras overcame a significant height disadvantage, along with its worst shooting performance of the season, to outlast the host Seahawks.
Parkland turned to its speed and agility, making quick runs to take advantage of numerous transition opportunities to fend off the host team. Broward kept the score tight through much of the game, including tying the game late in the third quarter, but a couple of clutch 3-pointers by
Peyton Crowe (19 points, 6 rebounds) in the 4th period created some separation for the visitors.
Adding to the Cobras offense was
Emily Meinert (11 points, 17 rebounds), who recorded her 8th double-double of the season.
Cassie Russo (5 points, 11 rebounds, 1 block), who recorded her 4th double-digit rebound game, along with teammate
Bree Trimble (10 points, 5 rebounds), helped Meinert to an overall advantage on the boards for Parkland.
Up next, the Cobras return to the Midwest to host South Suburban College, in Champaign, Ill., on Wednesday, January 8th, at 5:30 pm.
