CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 15 Parkland men's basketball team improved to 16-4 with a 97-49 non-conference win over the JV squad from Lincoln College (3-7).
A fast-paced game saw each team attempt 73 shots from the field, including a combined 57 from beyond the 3-point arc. The conversion rate, however, was dramatically different, as the Cobras shot 60% and the Lynx made only 25%. Parkland was well in control from the beginning, taking a 47-22 halftime lead, and extending that spread as the game progressed.
Scoring leaders for Parkland, which had six players in double figures, included
Carter Jeffries (17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals),
Bruno Williams Jr. (14 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists), and
Joey Saracco (12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks). The Cobras out-rebounded Lincoln 48-27, led by Saracco, Jeffries,
Charles Campbell Jr. (10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals),
Semaj Danley II (10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks), and
Kelvin Swims (9 points, 6 rebounds). Parkland a had 33 assists on 44 shots, produced 8 blocked shots, and had 11 steals, including 2 by
Tommy Makabu (11 points, 2 steals).
