CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –No. 19 Parkland women's basketball (18-3, 2-1 MWAC) got back on the winning track with an 84-52 win over Lewis & Clark CC (9-11, 0-4 MWAC). Five Cobras scored in double figures, including
Alex Specht (12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks), who came off the bench to post a career-high in scoring.
The visiting Trailblazers came out on fire, converting on all four of their 3-point attempts in the first quarter, taking a 16-11 lead. From that point forward, Parkland changed the game, outscoring Lewis & Clark 27-16 in the 2nd quarter and holding them to 17% shooting in the 2nd half. While the Cobras shot only 23% in the 1st quarter, they turned things around and averaged 67% in the final 3 quarters.
In addition to Specht, offensive leaders included
Emily Meinert (16 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks), who had her 13th double-double of the season, as well as
Bree Trimble (11 points, 6 rebounds) and
Cassie Russo (11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists).
Parkland dished out 27 assists on 32 baskets, out-rebounded the Trailblazers 39-17, and outscored the Lewis & Clark bench, 40-9.
