CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –Parkland women's basketball (20-4, 3-2 MWAC) won its 20th game of the season, beating Kennedy-King CC (6-18, 2-3 CCC) in a non-conference game.
Alex Specht (16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks) led the Cobras to the 87-50 victory, which marks the 12th time in the past 13 seasons the program has produced 20 or more wins.
Key to the victory was domination by Parkland on the boards, as five Cobras pulled down 8 or more.
Cassie Russo (12 points, 11 rebounds),
Emily Meinert (14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals) and
Nia Neal (7 points, 10 rebounds) were in double digits in that category, joining
Peyton Crowe (8 points, 9 rebounds) and Specht as team leaders.
Gema Alegre (4 assists, 4 steals) and
Lotte Miller (5 assists, 3 steals) sparked the offense, leading the team to totals of 20 assists and 15 steals. The Parkland defense held the Lady Statesmen to 35% shooting.
