No. 10 Parkland Baseball Loses Two

HARRIMAN, Tenn. – No. 10 Parkland baseball (3-3) fell to .500 on the season with a 3-5 loss to No. 15 Southeastern Iowa (5-1) and a 1-2 loss, in extra innings, to Roane State (6-8). The Cobras had defeated each of these teams the previous day.   
 
Up next, Parkland will compete in the Babe Howard JUCO Classic in Cordova, Tenn. On Friday, February 28th, the Cobras will play No. 15 Southeastern Iowa at 11:00 am and Muskegon at 4:00 pm. On the Saturday, February 29th, they will take on Madison at 10:00 am and No. 15 Southeastern Iowa at 3:00 pm.
 
 
Game 1: No. 10 Parkland 3, No. 15 Southeastern Iowa 5 (7 innings) 
 
Offensively, for the Cobras, David Ascencio was 3-4, while Camden Nisenson was 2-3.
 
Anthony Silkwood started on the mound and pitched three innings, striking out 2 and giving up 2 hits. He took the loss. Jay Schuler also pitched three innings, striking out 4 and allowing 1 hit.
 
 
Game 2: No. 10 Parkland 1, Roane State 2 (extra innings (8))
 
This pitchers' duel had to be settled in extra innings. Max Rimac started for the Cobras, striking out 5 and giving up 2 hits and 2 walks in five innings. Rigel Verciglio entered in relief. In three innings he struck out 3, walked 1, and allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits, thus taking the loss.
 
At the plate, Trevor Burkhart was 2-3 with 5 stolen bases.
