MARION, Ill. – No. 20 Parkland baseball (7-5) won its third and fourth games in a row, blanking Kankakee CC (1-1) by the score of 12-0, and then defeating Carl Sandburg (2-4) by the final of 14-4.
Trevor Burkhart was 5-8 on the day, with
Victor Fujiu and
Charlie Hodges each picking up a win on the mound.
Up next, Parkland will travel to Vincennes, Ind., to take on Vincennes University on Sunday, March 8th, at 2:00 pm eastern.
Game 1: (#20)Parkland 12, Kankakee CC 0 (7 innings)
In game one, Parkland pitchers limited Kankakee to just three hits on the day.
Victor Fujiu started and pitched through five innings, striking out eight and earning the win. He was relieved by
Jay Schueler , who struck out three, and
Chase Gockel, who struck out one.
At the plate,
Brant Vanaman was 4-4 with a double and a triple,
Austin Biehl was 3-4 with a triple and a home run, and
Trevor Burkhart was 2-4, also with a double and a triple.
Game 2: (#20)Parkland 14, Carl Sandburg 4 (7 innings)
In game two, the Cobras had five home runs, including one each from
Trevor Burkhart,
Carson Price, Jeremiah LeBron,
Austin Biehl, and
Jacob Neese. Burkhart was 3-4 with six stolen bases. Price was 2-2, and
Brant Vanaman stole five bases after drawing three walks.
Max Rimac started for the Cobras, pitching three innings and striking out five.
Charlie Hodges came in for four innings and earned the win, striking out six.
