CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –Parkland College Women's Basketball (3-0) won its third straight with a convincing 77-62 win over Southwestern Illinois College (0-1).
The Cobras were in control from the start, leading 21-15 after the first quarter, and 51-27 at the half. The Blue Storm had no answer after the break, falling behind even farther after three, 67-39. Parkland sputtered in the closing minutes, but the deficit was too great for SWIC to overcome.
The Cobras were led by
Bree Trimble (15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal) and
Naomi McDaniel (12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists), the latter producing her second double-double of the season.
Peyton Crowe (7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists) teamed with McDaniel to lead the Cobras to a 43-22 advantage in rebounding.
The Cobras dished out 20 assists on 29 baskets and had 10 players score at least 4 points, including
Elly Haberkorn (8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals),
Nia Neal (8 points, 4 rebounds), and
Mady Harper (6 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds).
