In match one, (SWIC) the defense stepped up with 10 blocks, tallied by Katie Kaiser (5 digs, 6 blocks), Jayden Sortor (6 kills, 4 blocks), and Arika Richardson (7 kills, 4 blocks). Thirty-six digs were generated, led by Kayla Brandon (7 digs), Isabella Classen (2 aces, 7 digs), and Summerlyn Smith (29 assists, 7 digs). Additional production came from Kaiser, Brittney Litton (5 digs), and Halle Everett (12 kills, 2 aces, 4 digs).

On the offensive side, Smith provided the bulk of assists as Everett led teammates Hailey Sperling (8 kills), Richardson, and Sortor in executing 40 team kills.

"Summer and Halle really continued their dominant all-around play, and freshmen Hailey Sperling and Arika Richardson kept scoring points offensively and staying very efficient while doing it," stated Head Coach Cliff Hastings. "Jayden Sortor had a nice breakout day today. She really made herself a big part of the offensive production."

In match two, (St. Louis) the Cobras were hot from the service line, striking 10 aces. Halle Everett (5 aces, 12 kills, 5 digs) led the way, with additional production from Brittney Litton (2 aces, 11 digs) and Reilly Swierbut (2 aces). Everett led a group of four who had more than 5 kills, which also included Jayden Sortor (10 kills, 4 blocks), Arika Richardson (7 kills, 3 blocks), and Hailey Sperling (6 kills).

Summerlyn Smith (28 assists, 8 digs) handled most of the setting, and she also tallied 8 of the team's 48 digs. Others contributing were Litton, Kayla Brandon (9 digs), Isabella Classen (9 digs), and Everett. Sortor and Richardson led the way defensively at the net.

Hastings added, "Our serve-receive was a bit shaky the first match, and our serving was a bit erratic in the second, but these are things that will clean themselves up over the next few weeks. We are continuing to be aggressive and play confidently which is exciting to see with this young group."

Up next, Parkland will play its first home match, hosting Mid-West Athletic Conference opponent Hartland CC in Champaign, Ill., on Wednesday, February 3, at 6:00 pm.
