Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland men's basketball team handled the Olivet Nazarene JV Squad on Thursday night, winning 96-72 at home. The Cobras held just a three point lead at halftime, but a 58 point second half lifted Coach Figueroa's squad to the 24-point win.
Marcus Johnson had a huge night off the bench, scoring 30 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in 22 minutes.
The Cobras (3-2) struggled on the glass early, getting outrebounded 23-15 in the first half, and shot poorly (15-41), but were still able to take a three-point lead into the break after trailing for most of the opening half. The Tigers tried to slow Parkland's offense in the second half, but the Cobras were locked in, shooting 65 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.
Daniel Reed played excellent defense against the Tigers guards, finishing the night with 4 steals, but
Marcus Johnson stole the show with 30 points off the bench on 13-16 shooting. Johnson scored his 30
th point on the last shot of the game and the Cobras won their third straight game 96-72.
