Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland men's basketball team fell short in their season opener Friday, losing 86-76 to National Park College in the Greyhound Classic in West Memphis, AR. National Park went on a run at the end of the first half and never looked back, keeping the 20
th-ranked Cobras at bay most of the night.

The Cobras (0-1) fought hard in the first half and kept it close. Neither team really had a strong lead until the Nighthawks (1-0) stretched their lead out to 13 at halftime. The start of the second half was much like the first, with Parkland unable to cut into the lead and National Park unable to pull away. The Cobras were able to cut the lead to nine when it was 70-61 with about six minutes to play, but untimely turnovers cost them the game and the Nighthawks ended the night victorious 86-76. It was an all-around performance for coach Figueroa's squad; three players led the team in scoring with 12 points in the absence of sophomore
Savon Wykle.
