CHAMPAIGN, Ill. –No. 6 Parkland College Women's Basketball (6-0, 1-0) decisively won its first Mid-West Athletic Conference game of the season with an 87-47 win over Lewis & Clark CC (0-4, 0-1).
Mady Harper (16 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) led the Cobras in points, rebounds, and assists.
Parkland immediately took control of the game, racing to a 30-18 lead after one quarter, and extending the margin to 53-25 at the half. In the third, the Trailblazers equaled the Cobras' output of 16 points, but Parkland increased the lead by 12 in the fourth.
In addition to Harper,
Naomi McDaniel (11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks),
Peyton Crowe (10 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists), and
Bree Trimble (10 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists) each scored in double figures, and Harper, McDaniel, and Crowe also led the team to a total of 43 rebounds.
Claire Wilhour (5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists) and
Shaelynn Bell (6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) combined for five of the team's 7 steals.
Ariana Booker (8 points, 5 assists) and Trimble each had 5 assists.
Up next, Parkland travels to Quincy, Ill., to take on John Wood CC on Sunday, February 14. Tip-off is scheduled at 1:00 pm.
