QUINCY, Ill. –No. 6 Parkland College Women's Basketball (7-0, 2-0 M-WAC) extended its winning streak to seven games with a 62-41 win over John Wood CC (2-6, 0-1).
The Cobras controlled the game throughout and were especially strong in the first and fourth periods. The lead was 29-19 at the half, and Parkland outscored the host Blazers 19-10 in the final quarter.
Led by
Naomi McDaniel (19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists), the Cobras were particularly strong in the paint, with a 38-12 scoring advantage.
Peyton Crowe (12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) and
Bree Trimble (11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) also scored in double figures.
Mady Harper (3 points, 5 assists) led the team in assists.
Parkland's defense held John Wood to 27% shooting from the floor and forced numerous miscues by the Blazers, leading to a 19-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
