CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (7-0) earned back-to-back wins over the Lincoln College JV squad. Match one was a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-9) sweep and the follow-up had a very similar, 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-9), result.
In match one,
Halle Everett (20 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks) scorched the visiting Lynx with 20 of the Cobras' 47 team kills. Teammates who added to that number included
Arika Richardson (8 kills) and
Jayden Sortor (6 kills, 2 blocks).
Summerlyn Smith (24 assists, 3 kills, 5 digs) and
Sasha Zuckerman (11 assists, 2 aces) shared the role of initiating the offensive attack.
Isabella Classen (3 aces, 10 digs) and Everett, along with
Kayla Brandon (8 digs, 1 ace) and
Brittney Litton (7 digs) dug out most of the Lincoln College attacks, while
Katie Kaiser (2 blocks), Everett, and Sortor combined for 6 of Parkland's 8 blocks.
Match two featured a different group of Cobras. At the net,
Katie Kaiser (4 blocks, 6 kills),
Kanay Benschneider (4 blocks), and
Brittney Litton (3 blocks, 8 digs, 5 kills) combined for 11 of Parkland's 18 blocks. Backing them up,
Reilly Swierbut (12 digs) and
Ella Godsell (11 digs) led a group that tallied 49 team digs.
Isabella Classen (4 aces, 10 digs),
Sasha Zuckerman (2 aces), and
Sophie Young (31 assists, 2 aces) smacked 8 of the team's 9 service aces, and Young primarily assisted
Arika Richardson (9 kills) and
Hailey Sperling (9 kills) who led the way in Cobras the offensive attack.
