QUINCY, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (8-0, 2-0 M-WAC) went on the road and scored a 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-21) victory over John Wood CC (4-5, 1-2), remaining undefeated in conference play and for the season.
Summerlyn Smith (37 assists, 5 kills, 2 aces, 7 digs) kickstarted the offense, setting up
Halle Everett (13 kills, 12 digs, 4 blocks),
Hailey Sperling (13 kills, 4 digs),
Arika Richardson (8 kills, 1 block), and
Jayden Sortor (7 kills, 4 blocks).
Kayla Brandon (12 digs) and Everett led the way to a team total of 50 digs, with help from
Brittney Litton (8 digs), Smith, and
Isabella Classen (5 digs). Everett, Sortor, and
Katie Kaiser (2 blocks) combined for 10 of the Cobras' 12 blocks.
Up next, the Cobras will host Parkland Tri #1 in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, February 20. Match 1 will feature Lake Land College, at 1:00 pm, and match 2 will feature a top-15 showdown with No. 15 Sauk Valley CC, at 5:00 pm.
