CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball (12-0, 4-0 M-WAC) extended its winning streak to twelve matches with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-9) victory over Lewis & Clark (0-7, 0-2) on Wednesday evening.
The Cobras were dominate, especially at the net.
Arika Richardson (9 kills, 4 blocks),
Hailey Sperling (9 kills, 4 blocks), and
Halle Everett (8 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks) combined for 26 of Parkland's 33 kills. The team hit .482 on 56 attempts.
Kanay Benschneider (5 blocks) led the team to 13 total blocks, while
Katie Kaiser (4 blocks, 2 kills) Richardson, and Sperling each had 4 of their own, and
Jayden Sortor (3 blocks) and Everett each added 3.
Reilly Swierbut (8 digs, 3 aces) was just ahead of a trio of Cobras,
Brittney Litton (5 digs, 2 aces),
Isabella Classen (5 digs, 2 aces), and
Ella Godsell (5 digs), who combined for 23 of the team's 38 digs.
Sophie Young (15 assists, 4 digs, 3 kills) and
Summerlyn Smith (10 assists, 2 aces) worked in tandem to generate the offense. Swierbut and Everett led a group of five Cobras who had 2 or more aces, producing a season-high of 13 for the team.
Up next, the Cobras host Parkland Tri #2 on Saturday, February 27. The 3-team tournament features a match with Vincennes University at 1:00 pm and then a top-15 matchup with No. 14 Lincoln Land CC at 5:00 pm.
