Cobras Softball Opens Season With Win

Defeats Triton College in Chicago-area dome

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Parkland College Softball (1-0) won its first game of the season, defeating Triton College (0-1) by the scores of 4-2. The game was played in the Dome at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.

The score was tied at 2 until Isabel Shafer singled in the winning run in the top of the sixth. The Cobras were up, 17-3, after 3 innings of a second game, but it was called due to time limitations.

"It was a nice start and a good night to get the first-game jitters out of the way. It had been 361 days since our last games," reflected Co-Head Coach Dan Paulson. "We are very proud, overall, of the performance, but for us, it is more about the process and seeing where our weaknesses are.  But it was great to finally play!"

Up next, the Cobras will travel to Pekin, Ill., to play a doubleheader against Frontier CC in the Avanti's Dome. Gametimes are 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
