OLNEY, Ill. –No. 7 Parkland College Women's Basketball won its fifth straight game with a 68-57 win on the road against Olney Central (0-5).
In a rematch from four days earlier, the Cobras started hot once again, scoring the first 11 points of the game. When leading-scorer
Naomi McDaniel (6 points, 7 rebounds) saw first half foul trouble, nine other Cobras stepped up on the offensive end, giving Parkland a 15-point half-time lead, 42-27. Although the Cobras were outscored by the Blue Knights, 8-16, in the 3rd period, several key defensive stops and clutch fourth-quarter baskets provided the final margin of eleven.
Peyton Crowe (13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) and
Bree Trimble (13 points, 4 rebounds) led Parkland on the offensive end.
Shaelynn Bell (10 rebounds, 3 blocks, 5 points) was a force defensively, producing a career-high 10 rebounds.
Mady Harper (9 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds) was solid all-around, with 9 of the team's 17 assists, a career high.
The Parkland bench, including
Ariana Booker (7 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds),
Elly Haberkorn (5 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block), and
Claire Wilhour (5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) combined for 22 points.
Up next, Parkland hosts Lewis & Clark in Champaign, Ill., on Thursday, February 11. This will be the Cobras' first M-WAC game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled at 5:00 pm.
