CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Men's Basketball (3-3) got back into the win column with a 91-74 win over the JV squad from Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.).
The Cobras jumped all over the visiting JV Tigers right out of the gate, building a 32-15 lead after the first ten minutes of play. Olivet then began to settle in, maintaining the deficit during the latter half of the first period. Parkland headed to the locker room with a 49-34 advantage.
At the ten-minute mark, mid-way through the second period, each team had scored an additional 19 points. Olivet held their own, cutting the deficit to eight, 77-65, with 4:49 on the clock. In the closing minutes, however, the Cobras outscored the Tigers, 14-9, producing the final winning margin.

Jamil Hardaway (18 points, 5 rebounds), four Parkland players scored in double figures, including teammates
Josh Rivers (13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists),
Savon Wykle (11 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block) and
Sean Ealy (11 points, 2 assists, 4 steals). The Cobras shot 49% from the field, but struggled from the line, shooting essentially the same percentage.
Deonte Douglas (5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) and
Kamari Kenemore (4 assists, 2 steals) combined for 8 of Parkland's 19 assists.
Wykle, who produced a double-double, led the Cobras in out-rebounding the Tigers, 39-30.
Kelvin Swims Jr. (4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals) was strong defensively, picking up 3 of Parkland's 4 blocks and combining with Ealy for 7 of the team's 15 steals.
