PARK HILLS, Mo. – Parkland College Softball (10-1) extended its winning streak to four games with a pair of wins over Mineral Area College (2-12).
In game one, the Cobras scored multiple runs in each inning, highlighted by an 8-run third that included three home runs en route to a 21-1 win.
Anna Walker hit 3 home runs and accumulated 11 RBIs. In game two, Parkland added five home runs to the day's total of 13 and cruised to a second win, this time 20-5.
Up next, the Cobras will once again travel to the Avanti's Dome in Pekin, Ill., to play a doubleheader against Kaskaskia College on Friday, March 12. Game times are 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
Game 1: Parkland 21, Mineral Area 1 (5 innings)
Anna Walker (4-5, 11 RBI, 3 HR) and
Summer Johnson (4-5, 4 RBI, 3 HR) who each were 4-for-5 with 3 home runs. One of Walker's, in the third inning, was a grand slam.
Reagan Cheely (3-4, 1 RBI, 1 HR) and
Ashley Lynch (2-2, 2 RBI, 1 HR) each had their own long ball. Isable Shafer (2-3, 2 RBI) and
Madison Vogel (2-3, 1 RBI) joined the group of 6 Cobras who had multiple hits, contributing to the team total of 21.
Chayse Ramey (6-0) was credited with the victory for Parkland. The righthander went two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out four with no walks.
Josie Birch (1-0) threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Game 2: Parkland 20, Mineral Area 5 (5 innings)
Isable Shafer (3-4, 2 2B) led the team to 19 hits, smacking 2 doubles, while
Kaylee Warren (2-3, 5 RBI, 1 HR) knocked in 5 teammates on 2 hits.
In addition to Warren, four other Cobras knock a long ball. That group includes
Eden McAvoy (2-2, 2 RBI, 1 HR),
Summer Johnson (2-3, 3 RBI, 1 HR),
Aynsleigh DeFries (1-1, 2 RBI, 1 HR), and
Ashley Lynch (1-4, 2 RBI, 1 HR).
Taylor Dugger (2-2, 1 RBI),
Lizzy Davis (2-3, 1 RBI),
Sydney Eichelberger (2-3), and
Reagan Cheely (2-4, 1 RBI) joined the group of eight who had 2 or more hits on the day.
Reagan Cheely (1-0) pitched Parkland to victory, allowing four hits and one run over two innings.
Emily Senjan (1-1) threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
