CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 6 Parkland College Baseball (4-3) lost a tight one, 2-3, in the first game of a doubleheader with Muskegon CC (6-3-1). In game two, the Cobras took an early lead and held on for a 7-4 victory, ending a three-game losing streak.
Up next, the Cobras host Marian University (Ind.) for a doubleheader in Champaign, Ill., on Sunday, March 14. Game times are 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Game 1: Parkland- 2, Muskegon- 3 (7 innings)
Parkland led, 2-1, after two innings, but Muskegon singled in two runs in the top of the fourth, and that ended the scoring for both teams. The Cobras loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7
th, but a fly ball to left field ended the game.

Parkland out-hit the Jayhawks, 8-6, but also committed 2 errors.
Charlie Hodges (0-1) pitched 4 innings for Parkland and took the loss. He gave up 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5, while 3 unearned runs were scored.
Kyle Brown (3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 SO) relieved Hodges out of the bullpen.
Game 2: Parkland- 7, Muskegon- 4 (7 innings)

Cole Evans grand slam in the first inning sparked a Cobras offense that scored seven runs in the first two innings, all that was needed to win the game. Muskegon scored 1in the third, 1 in the fifth, 2 in the sixth, and 1 in the seventh, but ultimately could not overcome the deficit.

Paxton Thompson (2-0) pitched 5 innings for Parkland and earned the win. He gave up one run on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6.
Danny Wizceb (3 R, 4 H, 1 SO) threw 2 innings in relief.
