No. 3 Cobras Travel North for Two Wins

Sweep Olivet JV and Waubonsee

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – No. 3 Parkland College Volleyball (27-1) played two matches in the Chicago area, sweeping, 3-0, both the Olivet Nazarene University JV squad and Waubonsee CC (5-3).
 
Up next, Parkland will play its final regular season match, hosting Rend Lake College in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, March 27, at 1:00 pm. 
 
 
No. 3 Parkland- 3,  Olivet Nazarene JV- 0  (25-16, 25-13, 25-8)
 
Sophie Young (17 assists, 10 digs) had a double-double, sharing setting duties with Summerlyn Smith (11 assists, 3 kills, 2 digs).
 
Hailey Sperling (9 kills) and Katie Kaiser (7 kills, 2 aces, 3 blocks) led the way in the offensive attack, while Kayla Brandon (11 digs, 2 aces) and Brittney Litton (5 kills, 11 digs, 2 blocks) combined for 22 digs in the back line.
 
At the net, Kaiser, Kanay Benschneider (3 blocks), and Litton combine for 8 individual blocks, leading the way to a total of 8 team blocks.
 
Ella Godsell chipped in 4 aces from the service line, while Kaiser and Brandon each had a pair.

Summerlyn Smith (43 assists, 11 digs) and Halle Everett (11 kills, 16 digs, 2 blocks) notched double-doubles, with Smith leading the way in assists and Everett in kills. Hailey Sperling (11 kills, 2 blocks) matched Everett in the offensive attack, with Arika Richardson (10 kills, 5 blocks) and Jayden Sortor (10 kills, 4 blocks) right behind.
 
Countering the Waubonsee attack, Kayla Brandon (21 digs), Everette, Isabella Classen (15 digs) and Smith combined for 63 of Parkland's 82 digs. Richardson, Katie Kaiser (5 blocks), and Sortor were strongest at the net, leading the Cobras to a total of 10 team blocks.
