CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – On a cold and wet afternoon, No. 13 Parkland Men's Soccer (3-2) notched a 1-0 victory against John Wood CC (0-2).
The Cobras put together two solid halves of soccer but were not rewarded on the scoreboard until the eighty-first minute, when
Exosse Kadiebue broke the 0-0 deadlock. He took a pass from
Saito Eikichi, beat two defenders, and knocked the ball past the Blazers' goalkeeper. Parkland was able to defend the final few minutes to secure the victory.
"I was very impressed at the flexibility and effort of all the players today," expressed Head Coach
Mark Sikora. "From the first minute, we set the tone, maintained our composure throughout, and continued to dictate play. While Ex's (Kadiebue) goal won us the game, it was clear that our solid, team defending was also a major factor in the result today. It is always a great feeling to earn a shutout."
Up next, the Cobras are in Champaign, Ill., to play Kankakee CC, on Wednesday, April 28, at 4:00 pm.
