CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 15 Parkland College Baseball (26-9, 17-3 MWAC) swept the second doubleheader of a four-game series with Illinois Central College (16-23, 10-14) on Sunday afternoon, winning 7-0 and 7-4.
Up next, the Cobras will play a 4-game, MWAC series with Vincennes University. Games 1 & 2 will be in Vincennes, Ind., on Friday, April 30. Games 3 & 4 will be in Champaign on Sunday, May 2. The first pitch for each doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 pm central (2:00 pm eastern).
Game 3: No. 15 Parkland- 7, Illinois College- 0 (7 innings)
Parkland scored one in the first, one in the third, and five in the fourth, and the 7-0 lead held through the seventh.
The Cobras outhit the Cougars, 5-4.
Matt Parenteau (6-1) picked up the win on the mound.
Game 4: No. 15 Parkland- 7, Illinois College- 4 (9 innings)
Parkland scored four in the second and one in the sixth, building a 5-0 lead. In the seventh, Illinois College responded with four runs to pull within one, at 5-4.
The Cobras added one of their own in the bottom of the seventh and then another in the eighth, and the 3-run lead held through nine.
The Cougars outhit Parkland, 10-8.
Tyler Heidkamp (3-1) earned the win for the Cobras.
