EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The Parkland College women's soccer team opened its fall 2021 campaign on the road and suffered an 8-1 loss to Illinois Central College.
The Cougars had too much offensive power for the Cobras, scoring two goals in the first period and then adding four more before Parkland finally got on the board. In the 81st minute,
Izzy Fritz took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity and notched her first goal of the season. Illinois Central added two more by the final buzzer to finish the scoring.
Becky Painter made eight saves in goal for the Cobras, and
Dana Jarden provided some relief and had six saves of her own.
Up next, Parkland returns to Champaign, Ill., to host No. 8 St. Louis CC on Saturday, August 28, at 12:00 PM.
