CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 17 Parkland College men's soccer team opened its fall 2021 campaign with a 1-1 draw against (DI) Illinois Central College.
 
The Cobras (0-0-1) got on the board in the eighth minute when Eikichi Saito scored an unassisted goal. The Cougars (2-0-1) responded with a goal of their own before the regulation buzzer, forcing overtime. Neither team was able to finish in the first overtime period, and the match was called in its second overtime period due to inclement weather.

Illinois Central held a 9-7 edge in shots on goal, but Parkland's Matteo Gigliozzi made 8 saves to preserve the tie.
 
Up next, Parkland travels to Jacksonville, Ill., to play Illinois College on Saturday, August 28, at 2:00 PM.
