CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland's men's soccer team couldn't keep up with the No. 3 Prairie State Pioneers on Thursday afternoon, losing at home for the first time this season by a score of 5-3.
 
The Pioneers (6-1-1) got out to a fast start, scoring in the 2^nd minute and again in the 15^th minute, this time from the penalty spot. But the Cobras (5-2-1) quickly responded with two goals of their own in the 18^th and 23^rd minute. Prairie State took a 3-2 lead into halftime and then began the second half just like the first, with a quick goal only one minute in. Parkland responded again in the 55^th minute to make the score 4-3, but the Pioneers' Yannis Lakhlifi completed his hat-trick in the 63^rd minute and the Cobras couldn't work their way back.

Jonathon Velasquez led the Cobras with two shots on goal and Goalkeeper Matteo Gigliozzi had three saves before being taken off due to injury in the 70^th minute.
