"As I told the team in the locker room after the game, we haven't done enough on our end to deserve to win," head coach John Bowler revealed after his team's 0-5 start. "We have a ton of potential and continue to make far too many mistakes. What compounds that is we've played a tough schedule with a lot of good teams."
Â
"We cannot make the same mistakes and expect different results," coach Bowler concluded.
Â
Parkland trailed 18-12 midway through the first half, but after two Issac Mapson free throws with 2:52 until halftime, the Cobras managed to trim the Lakers' lead down to 28-26. Lake Land pulled away at the end of the half, however, and Parkland went into the break down 36-29. The Lakers opened the second half with a 13-3 run and looked in control, and again the Cobras were able to cut into the lead. Parkland trailed by six with just under a minute remaining after Sean Ealy hit a fast-break layup to make the score 69-63, but a late, costly turnover saw the Cobras' chances quickly evaporate and the team lost 73-66.
