No. 1 Parkland College Volleyball Wins the Central District A Championship

The Cobras advance to the NJCAA DII National Tournament

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 1 ranked Parkland College volleyball team defeated both Rend Lake College and Lincoln Land Community College in straight sets on Saturday, November 5th in the Central District A Championship as the Cobras advance to the NJCAA DII National Tournament for the 15th season in a row. The Cobras (52-2) were led on offense by freshman outside hitter Kayla Pacha (24 kills) while freshman middle blocker Emma Robben held down the defense with 16 blocks. Parkland College has now won 15 straight Central District A titles, the longest active District Champion streak in junior college volleyball.

"It is such a compliment and a wonderful accomplishment for the team to keep doing this and build on the legacy of what we've done in the past, but every year it is a different team, a different opportunity, and a different experience," head coach Cliff Hastings said after his team advanced to its 15th-straight NJCAA DII National Tournament. "We try to stay more about the present and not worry about the past."

Up next, the Cobras will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the NJCAA DII National Tournament which goes from November 17th through November 19th. Parkland will find out who their first opponent is when the tournament seeds are announced on Thursday, November 10th.
