"This is a game where we just came out flat," head coach John Bowler said after the game. "Changes will be made moving forward. Losing like that is just unacceptable."
The Cobras (9-9) (1-3) opened the game trailing 1-0 after a technical foul for dunking during pregame warmups, but a
Brylan Phillips three gave Parkland an early 3-1 lead just under two minutes into its first matchup with the Loggers (8-10) (3-1) this season. The two teams traded buckets early, but Lincoln Land went on a 12-1 run over 4:23 and forced Parkland to call a time out, trailing 19-8 with 10:09 to go in the first half. Freshman Donald Coats III opened the second half with a layup to cut the deficit to 10, but Lincoln Land answered with an 8-0 run to make it 42-24. The Loggers hit 17 of 19 free throws in the second half to keep the Cobras out of striking distance, but a
Daniel Reed three capped a late, 10-2 Parkland run cut their lead to 64-56 with 3:13 to go. Reed buried another late three with 1:39 left, and Phillips completed a three-point play with 1:09 remaining to trim the Lincoln Land lead to seven, but the Loggers continued to make their free throws, and the Cobras' comeback fell short, 78-68.
