MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The No. 12 Parkland College women's basketball team started the new season with an 87-71 road win over No. 17 Bryant & Stratton College-Wisconsin on Wednesday, November 1. The Cobras (1-0) got out to an early lead in the first quarter, going into halftime with a 41-31 advantage over the Bobcats (0-1). The Parkland offense exploded for 27 points in the third quarter to take control of the game, and the visitors closed out the 87-71 win at the free throw line. Sophomore
Alyssa Cole led the Cobras with 27 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman
Lucy Fearday dropped 17 points and 5 rebounds in her Parkland College debut.
The win marks the first for Parkland College under first-year head coach Jean Demosthenes. After the game, Demosthenes said, "It was a great team win tonight against a good and physical team. We struggled defensively tonight, and we must fix our mistakes to be a competitive team."
