CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 12 Parkland College women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never let up in a 92-28 win over Moraine Valley Community College on Saturday, November 4. The Cobras (2-0) held the Cyclones (0-1) to just nine made field goals and nine free throws in the win, outrebounding the visitors 50-27 in the first game of the PC Classic at the Donald C. Dodds Jr. Athletic Complex. Returning All-American
Alyssa Cole (24 points, 14 rebounds, 10 steals) excelled on both sides of the ball, recording a triple-double, while freshman
Megan Janson led the team with five assists.

"We worked really hard on defense, and I think we showed improvement from the last game," first-year head coach Jean Demosthenes said after the win. "We've emphasized playing man defense this week, and it worked out well."

"We're going to continue to work on our offensive sets, but I think overall it's improving and getting better each day," Demosthenes added.

The Cobras controlled the game early, opening on a 14-0 run, and the team led 28-8 at the end of the first quarter. Parkland outscored Moraine Valley 26-3 in the second quarter, taking a 54-11 lead into halftime. Freshman
Siarah Brown led all scorers in the first half with 16 points. Parkland opened the second half much like the first, starting out on an 11-0 run, and the Cobras led 70-20 heading into the fourth quarter on their way to a convincing 92-28 win. The Parkland defense forced 41 turnovers and held MVCC to 18% from the field (9-50) in the win.
