No. 3 Cobras Win Central District Championship, Advance to National Tournament

Parkland wins the Central District Championship for the 16th consecutive season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 3 ranked Parkland College volleyball team advanced to the NJCAA DII National Tournament with a 16th straight District Championship Title on Saturday, November 4, defeating Rend Lake College and Lincoln Land Community College in the Central A District Championship at the Donald C. Dodds Jr. Athletic Complex. The Cobras (44-4) swept the Warriors (19-16) and the Loggers (22-10) en route to securing their 16th consecutive NJCAA DII National Tournament appearance.

"I'm very proud of the girls for their stick-to-it attitude to get through that championship match and move on to nationals," head coach Cliff Hastings said after his team's 16th District Championship in a row. "I think with the region changes where we now have crossovers this match is much tougher than it's been in the past."

"I didn't think we played exceptionally great today, but we worked hard the entire time, and I think that has been a thing for us this entire season," Hastings added. "We haven't always been clean or the most offensively efficient, but we've always been a hard-working team, and I like that a lot about them."

Up next, Parkland will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the NJCAA DII National Tournament, beginning on Wednesday, November 15. The Cobras find out what seed they have earned on Thursday, November 9, during the NJCAA DII National Tournament Seeding Announcement on the NJCAA Network.
