NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – The No. 4 Parkland College Softball team swept Pasco-Hernando College on its final stop of this January's Florida road trip on Monday, January 29. The Cobras (6-2) shut out the Bobcats (1-4) in both games, winning 3-0 and 8-0 to extend their winning streak to four straight games. Starting pitchers

Ellie Vetter (3-1) picked up wins on Monday, combining for 17 strikeouts – while freshman outfielder
Mia Ruder recorded two triples, leading the team with eight total bases on the day.

The Cobras got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning when sophomore
Lizzie Stiverson (1-4, 2 RBI) lined a double into left field, scoring
Maddie Reed and
Mia Ruder. Ruder (3-3, RBI, R) led the team with three hits, driving in
Ryleigh Owens (1-1, R) with an RBI triple in the top of the 7th as Parkland powered past Pasco-Hernando in game one, 3-0.

Parkland opened the scoring with back-to-back hits in the top of the 2nd to take an early 2-0 lead. Shortstop
Lizzie Stiverson lifted an RBI double out to left field in the 3rd that drove in
Alisha Frederick to extend the Cobra lead and right fielder
Mia Ruder lined a 3-RBI triple into right field in the 4th to put Parkland up 6-0. Freshman
Tori Thomas hammered an RBI double up the middle in the top of the 5th, later scoring on a wild pitch, and the Cobras closed out the 8-0 win in five innings.

Ellie Vetter (4.0 IP, H, 0 ER, 7 K) allowed just two baserunners in four innings of work, striking out seven in the win. Sophomore
Ryleigh Owens (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER) did not surrender a run in relief.
