Box Score CANTON, Ill. – The No. 4 Parkland College men's basketball team lost at the buzzer to Spoon River 75-74 on Wednesday, February 21. The Cobras (24-3) (8-2) led by two in the final seconds of the game versus the Snappers (6-19) (3-6), but a contested three as time expired ended Parkland's winning streak, handing the visitors their first loss since January 17. Sophomore Jabryn Anderson led the Cobras with 20 points in the loss.
 
"Credit goes to Spoon River. We did not do what we were supposed to do to close the game, and they made a play late," head coach John Bowler said after the game. "We should not lose games on fundamentals and mental mistakes. (We) had too much of that today and need to clean this up immediately."
 
The Cobras trailed early in the game before taking the lead midway through the first half, extending it to 26-19 with 6:40 on the clock. The Snappers closed the gap before halftime, but a late bucket from Jabryn Anderson pushed the Parkland lead to 33-28 at the break. Both offenses came out firing early in the second half, and a quick run gave the Cobras a 50-43 lead with 12:48 to go. Parkland maintained its lead down the stretch, keeping Spoon River at a distance, and redshirt sophomore Grant Coleman knocked down a three with four minutes remaining to put the visitors up 66-61, but the Cobras' offense went quiet, and the Snappers tied the game 67-67 with a bucket with 2:39 left. Parkland quickly regained the lead, but Spoon River knocked down free throws late to take a 72-71 lead with 46 seconds to go. Anderson rose to hit a jumper on the ensuing possession, putting Parkland up 73-72, and the Cobras got a key stop on defense, taking a 74-72 lead following a 1-2 trip to the free throw line, but Spoon River hustled down the court and buried a game-winning three at the buzzer to hand Parkland a 75-74 loss.
