CLERMONT, Fla. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team continued its winning streak with two victories against Iowa Lakes Community College on Sunday, March 10. The Cobras (17-3) shut out the Lakers (7-7) in game one, winning 10-0 in five innings, and the team kept it rolling into a 13-0 win in five innings in game two on the second day of The Spring Games. Karley Yergler (10-2) struck out 10 of the 13 batters she faced over four innings, allowing just one walk and no hits in her start, and second baseman
Emma Mason drove in five runs and hit her second home run of the season as Parkland won its 10th straight game.

Up next, the Cobras have a day off before resuming The Spring Games on Tuesday, March 12th. Parkland will face South Suburban College (3-6) at 1:30 p.m. EST and Waubonsee Community College (2-1) at 4:00 p.m. EST.

The Cobras struck early, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning after right fielder
Ellie Vetter lined a 2-RBI double to left field and catcher
Lexie Griffin (2-2, RBI) drove in Vetter (1-3, 2B, 3 RBI, R) with an RBI single up the middle.

In the circle, Yergler (4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 10 K, BB) and
Ryleigh Owens (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0ER) shutout the Lakers, and Parkland knocked in seven runs in the 4th, batting around the order and closing out a 10-0 win in five innings.

Kallie Evans opened the scoring in the 7-run 4th, touching home after a bases-loaded RBI single from
Katy Hendricks (1-2, RBI, R), and Evans (1-1, RBI, R) capped the inning with a pinch-hit RBI single of her own. Sophomore
Emma Mason (2-2, 2 RBI, R) drove in two, and
Lizzie Stiverson (0-1, 2 BB, 2 R) led the team with two runs in the win.

Parkland jumped out to another early lead, scoring three in the top of the 1st on an error and a 2-run home run from
Emma Mason (2-2, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R), and the Cobras added five runs in the 2nd to go up 8-0 in game two.

Sophomore infielder
Addie Wallace (2-2, RBI, R) grounded an RBI single to left field in the 3rd to score
Maddie Reed, and Reed (3-4, RBI, 2 R) extended the lead in the 4th, scoring
Ryleigh Owens on an RBI single up the middle. In the top of the 5th, Freshman
Reece Sarver lined a 2-RBI double to left, and Owens (1-3, RBI, R) drove in Sarver (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI, R) to push the Parkland lead to 13-0, and the Cobras closed out the Lakers for the shutout win.
