QUINCY, Ill. – No. 5 Parkland men's basketball won a conference game at John Wood Community College (6-11) on Saturday, January 11. The Cobras (15-2) outrebounded the Blazers 32-22 to win 80-64.Â
The Cobras pulled ahead 5-4 early in the first half and never lost the lead again. With 5:07 on the clock in the first half, a
Grant Chamberlain bucket put the Cobras up by 15. By halftime, Parkland had the 45-29 lead.
JaMonte Williams and
Jaiden Martin combined for 16 of Parkland's 35 points in the second half to secure the 16-point win on the road. The Cobras shot 32-64 (50%) from the field, 10-25 (40%) from three, and 6-8 (75%) from the free throw line.Â
"I am proud of our guys for rallying and bouncing back," Parkland head coach John Bowler said. "John Wood is a really talented basketball team who is tough to play at their place. To come here, guard the way we did, and get a decisive win is a testament to our guys. We need to build on this next Wednesday."
