CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland women's basketball fell to No. 8 Illinois Central College (16-4) on Saturday, January 25. The Cobras (12-9) shot 25-63 (39.7%) from the field and 11-17 (64.7%) from the free throw line in the loss.
Stacie Vonderheide led the Cobras with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

Both teams had a slow start offensively, but the Cougars had pulled ahead 20-12 by the end of the first quarter. The ICC offense started to pick up in the second quarter, and they extended the lead to 16 points with 4:04 on the clock. A late run by the Cobras in the last three minutes of the half would cut the deficit to seven points going into halftime, and Parkland trailed 34-27.Â

Midway through the third quarter, back-to-back
Danielle Ruffin layups helped the Cobras pull within one point of the Cougars. Ruffin then forced a Cougar turnover and tossed the ball to
Sofiia Fedina, who gave the Cobras the 37-36 lead with 5:00 on the clock after sinking the shot. The Cobras couldn't hold on to the lead, however, and the Cougars bounced back quickly to regain the ten-point lead by the end of the quarter. The Cobras ran into foul trouble in the fourth quarter and the ICC offense didn't let down. Parkland lost 77-62 at home to the Cougars, falling to 12-9 on the season.
