BOONEVILLE, Miss. – The No. 13 ranked Parkland baseball team ended the weekend with a win over Northeast Mississippi Community College (13-11) on Saturday, March 8. Parkland compiled 12 hits, led by Adison Worthman with three. Gavin Parkerson picked up his first win of the season, allowing six hits and two earned runs in five innings.

The Cobras (8-3) started the scoring quickly, tallying three runs in the 1st inning. Cody DelFavero and Will Applegate started off the inning with walks, and then Adison Worthman hit a double to score the first run. The other two runs were scored on a groundout by Michael Carrano Jr. and a wild pitch by the Tigers. The Tigers got their first run in the 3rd inning, but the Cobras scored another three in the top of the 4th to get the 6-1 lead after DelFavero singled to left field and Jax Hisle and Will Applegate each hit a sacrifice fly. Parkland didn't slow down there, scoring another six runs to win 12-2 in 8 innings. 
 
Gavin Parkerson (5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) earned the win and Alex McHale (3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K) relieved the starting pitcher, collecting the save. 
 
Up next, the Cobras travel to Hammond, Indiana, to play a doubleheader against Lansing Community College (3-5). The first game is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Monday, March 10.
