Box Score 2 HAMMOND, Ind. – The No. 11 ranked Parkland baseball team dropped two games to Lansing Community College (5-5) on Monday, March 10.
Will Applegate and
Mark Mennecke led the team in hits in the first game with two apiece, and
Jax Hisle launched two home runs in the second game, but the Cobras still fell short to the Stars in the doubleheader.Â

The Stars put two runs on the board in the top of the 2nd inning, but the Cobras answered by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Will Applegate started it off with a triple, and then
Michael Carrano Jr. hit him in on a single to right field. Carrano scored on a wild pitch, and then
Mark Mennecke and
Matthew Carrano got on base.
Alex Schimmel and
John Shuey both grounded out to bring the runners home, and the Cobras led 4-2 going into the 3rd inning. The Stars matched the Cobras in the top of the 3rd inning, scoring four runs of their own. Parkland scored a run in the bottom of the 3rd when Carrano was hit by a pitch, after working the bases loaded. The Cobras then tied the game after Shuey drew a walk and scored another run. The two teams remained tied until the 7th inning, when the Stars got back on top 8-6. Parkland left a baserunner stranded in its last at bat, and fell to Lansing Community College 8-6.Â

Collin Cirks (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) pitched the final inning for the Cobras and took the loss.
Jarron Thompson (3.0 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) started on the mound and
Logan Gale (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) pitched three innings.Â

The Stars got up big in the first three innings, and the Cobras trailed 10-0 going into the bottom half of the 3rd inning.
Jax Hisle cut the deficit with a three-run home run to get the Cobras on the board and make the score 10-3. Parkland scored another two runs before the end of the inning, and Hisle put another on the board in the 4th with a solo home run. The Stars continued to add to their lead, and they were on top 16-8 when the Cobras came up for their last at bat. A
John Shuey sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th cut the lead to 16-9, but the Cobras couldn't get any closer than that, and they fell 16-9.Â

Richard Gomez (1.0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K) started and took the loss. Five other Cobra pitchers threw, including
Jake Perrino,
Alec Bergman,
Connor Hale,
Cade Starrick, and
Sam Foulke.Â
