ENID, Okla.—May 23, 2026—The Parkland College baseball team opened play at the NJCAA Division II World Series on Saturday night, falling to South Mountain Community College 5-11 in a first-round matchup.
South Mountain used a five-run second inning and 4 home runs to build an early advantage before holding off a late Parkland rally.
The Cobras finished with 12 hits offensively, led by multiple-hit performances from Matthew Carrano, Jayden Patel, Cody DelFavero, Nick Guidici, and Matt Knapcyzk. Guidici drove in 2 runs, while Carrano, Cal Hanson, and Knapcyzk each added an RBI.
Parkland continued to fight throughout the game, scoring in the second, fourth, seventh, and ninth innings. The Cobras plated two runs in the seventh before adding two more in the final frame.
On the mound, Tyler Tylka made the start for the Cobras, while Cade Starrick tossed 3 innings in relief and Logan Gale worked the final 2 innings.
Despite the loss, Parkland remains in contention at the NJCAA Division II World Series tournament in.
