Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—May 8, 2026—The No. 20 Parkland College baseball team opened postseason play with two victories on Friday in the first round of the NJCAA Region 24 Championship Tournament, defeating Vincennes University, 7-6 in nine innings, before earning a 12-4 win in eight innings over Danville Area Community College.
The Cobras used timely hitting and strong bullpen performances across both games to remain unbeaten in tournament play.
Parkland began the day with a dramatic extra-inning victory over Vincennes University.
Trailing 5-6 entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cobras tied the game before walking it off in the ninth to secure the 7-6 win. Matthew Carrano homered while Nick Guidici drove in 3 runs, including a key extra-base hit. Cal Hanson added a triple and RBI, and Ryan Kondrad reached base twice and scored 3 runs.
The Cobras collected 10 hits in the win while striking out 16 Vincennes hitters on the mound. Cody DelFavero started the game with 9 strikeouts across 4.2 innings before Cade Starrick delivered 3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out 6 to close the game.
Parkland carried that momentum into Friday afternoon's matchup against DACC.
The Cobras jumped ahead early with 4 runs in the first inning and never looked back in the 12-4 victory. Parkland totaled 14 hits, led by a four-RBI performance from Ryan Kondrad. Jayden Patel added 2 RBIs while Cody DelFavero and Matt Knapcyzk each drove in 2 runs.
Matthew Carrano scored 3 times, and the Cobras consistently pressured the Jaguars throughout the game.
Tyler Tylka earned the win on the mound, striking out 6 over 5 innings while allowing just 1 earned run. Logan Gale, Chase Wells, and Sam Foulke combined to finish the game in relief.
With the two wins, Parkland advances further into the NJCAA Region 24 Championship Tournament carrying momentum after scoring 19 runs across Friday's pair of victories.
