Cobras Stay Alive in Central District Tournament with Back-to-Back Wins

Parkland powers past Moberly and Heartland to remain in contention for a World Series bert

NORMAL, Ill.—May 15, 2026—The Parkland College baseball team continued its postseason surge this week, earning two victories in the NJCAA DII Central District Championship Tournament to remain in the hunt for a trip to the NJCAA DII World Series. The Cobras defeated Moberly Area Community College, 11-1 in 6 innings, on Thursday before taking down Heartland Community College, 10-4, on Friday.

Parkland's offense stayed red hot across both contests, combining for 21 runs on 24 hits while the pitching staff held opponents to just 5 total runs.

Against Moberly Area on Thursday, the Cobras broke the game open with a five-run third inning before cruising to the 11-1 run-rule victory. Jayden Patel led the offense with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs, while Cody DelFavero added a two-run homer and Ryan Kondrad tripled as part of a two-hit performance.

Cal Hanson collected 3 hits, and Parkland finished with 12 hits overall.

Tyler Tylka delivered another dominant postseason outing on the mound, allowing just one unearned run over six innings while striking out seven.

The Cobras carried that momentum into Friday's matchup against Heartland Community College.

Parkland jumped ahead early with 4 runs through the first 2 innings before using a five-run seventh inning to pull away for the 10-4 win. Cody DelFavero powered the offense with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs, while Matthew Carrano homered and drove in 2 runs. Jayden Patel added 2 RBIs, and Max Michalak and Matt Knapcyzk each recorded multi-hit performances.

On the mound, Brodie Farrell earned the start before the Cobras pieced together the remainder of the game with Alec Bergman, Amaan Khan, Logan Gale, and Cade Starrick combining to close out the victory.

With the wins, Parkland remains alive in the NJCAA Central District Championship Tournament and continues its pursuit of a berth in the NJCAA DII World Series.
