Box Score 2 Champaign, Il — October 3, 2026 — The No. 5 ranked Parkland Volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Parkland Quad meet on Saturday. The Cobras dropped a tough match against the number 1 team in Division II, Kirkwood Community College, falling 3-0, but bounced back to close out Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of Lincoln Land College.
Match 1: (#5) Parkland, 0, (#1) Kirkwood 3 (18-25, 14-25, 19-25)
The Cobras faced a tough test to open the weekend, going up against #1 Kirkwood Community College, being swept by the Eagles 3-0 in a rough match where the Cobras were limited to .017 hitting as a team.
Reis McFarland notched 5 kills and 12 digs for Parkland, while
Alayna Briggs added 5 kills and 6 digs. Jillian Schlitler and Kendall Stotler both added 3 kills each. On the defensive end,
Khloe Stear led the team with 21 digs, while
Chloe Eeten added 6 digs to go along with 15 assists. Parkland was handed their second loss of the season, dropping to 31-2, while Kirkwood remains unbeaten at 22-0.
Match 2: (#5) Parkland 3, Lincoln Land 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-14)
The Cobras responded to a tough loss with a sweep of Lincoln Land in the second match of the afternoon. After battling through a close first set, the Cobras took control of the match to cruise to a 3-0 victory, finishing the match with a .458 hitting percentage in the final set, while hitting .299 as a team overall for the match.
Reis McFarland hit .357 individually while finishing with 13 kills and 13 digs.
Alayna Briggs had 15 digs to lead the Cobra defense while adding 9 kills of her own, hitting .269 individually in the match.
Khloe Stear added 12 digs for the defense while
Bella McKinney and
Chloe Eeten combined for another 13 kills. Eeten would also finish with 27 assists while leading the team with .667 hitting for the match. The Cobras closed out the day strong, improving to 31-2 for the season, while the Loggers drop to 10-13 overall.
Head coach
Cliff Hastings commented on the team's response after dropping a tough first match:
"I think it's just the fact we have a lot of freshmen, we'll have some good matches and some bad matches. We keep learning and figuring ourselves out. I thought it was a good bounce back after our first loss in a long time."

The Cobras head to Bloomington next Saturday for a pair of marquee matches at the Heartland Tri Meet. Parkland will face #3 Johnson County College at 9 AM followed by #12 Neosho County College at 11 AM.
