Box Score CANTON, Ill.—February 7, 2026— In a physical, defensive battle on Saturday afternoon, the No. 10 Parkland College men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 64–49 win over Spoon River College. The victory lifts the Cobras to 20–4 on the season and marked a day filled with program milestones.
Both teams struggled to convert clean looks early, as the game settled into a defensive grind. Parkland found its rhythm after halftime, tightening up defensively and gradually creating separation. The Cobras pulled away in the second half, building their largest lead of the afternoon at 22 points and closing out the win down the stretch.
Parkland had three players score in double figures, led by Jaiden Martin's 20 points. Grant Chamberlain added 14 points, while De'Shaun Tolever chipped in 10 to provide a key spark as the Cobras took control in the final minutes.
Martin's performance carried added significance, as the sophomore guard surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career. Entering the game just 15 points shy, Martin eclipsed the milestone in the second half, becoming the latest Cobra to reach the historic scoring benchmark.
The win also marked a major achievement for head coach John Bowler, earning his 100th victory as Parkland's head coach. Bowler now holds a 100–25 record at Parkland and a 122–35 overall head coaching mark. Additionally, the victory secured Parkland's 20th win of the season, representing the 10th time in the last 12 seasons the Cobras have reached the 20-win plateau or higher.
Bowler praised his team's toughness following the game:
"Extremely proud of our group. This was a very gritty win. Spoon River is a very dangerous team and it is a very hard place to play. We didn't play our best, but we found a way to close the game late. We need to carry that mentality forward the rest of the way and just find a way to get the job done."
With the win, Parkland continues to build momentum heading into another ranked matchup.
Up next, the Cobras will travel to Danville, Illinois, to face No. 8 Danville Area Community College on February 11, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 PM CST.
