QUINCY, Ill.—February 28, 2026—The No. 12 Parkland College men's basketball team closed out the regular season Saturday with a 60-66 loss to John Wood Community College. With the loss, the Cobras move to 22-8 overall.
Parkland battled throughout but struggled to find consistent offensive rhythm, shooting 43.9% (18-41) from the field and just 2-of-16 (12.5%) from three-point range. The Cobras kept themselves in the game at the free throw line, converting 22-of-27 (81.5%) attempts.
Jaiden Martin led Parkland with 17 points, knocking down 11 free throws while adding 2 steals. Nick Harrell provided an efficient 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while De'Shaun Tolever added 9 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
Grant Chamberlain anchored the glass with a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with 6 points, and Chris Bush contributed 8 points.
The Cobras trailed 29-23 at halftime and matched John Wood with 37 second-half points but were unable to close the gap down the stretch.
Parkland will now shift its focus to postseason play. The Cobras will host the first round of the Region 24 Tournament against Illinois Central College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM CST.
