Parkland men's soccer forward Yu Sasaki has been named the Parkland Athletics September Male Athlete of the Month. Sasaki currently ranks in the top-10 in both goals (15) and points scored (37) for the Cobras' soccer squad. Sasaki took home NJCAA Division I Soccer Player of the Week honors on September 4th after leading the Cobras to a No. 10 national ranking with at least two points in each of the team's first four matches. 
 
Leading the team in points (37), goals (15) and assists (7), Sasaki has established himself as one of the lethal strikers in Division I. The sophomore has already surpassed his 2018 season totals in each category with a month still remaining. In the season's first full month, Sasaki has tallied 11 goals and four assists for 26 total points over the course of 30 days. Sasaki saved his best performance for last this month, as he scored all four of Parkland's goals in a come-from-behind victory at John Wood on September 28.
 
"There is no friendlier off the field young man, nor a fiercer competitor on the field than Yu Sasaki," said head men's soccer coach Mark Sikora. "His success thus far in the season is not an accident.  I'm sure his teammates will agree that Yu came into preseason with a vengeance and works extremely hard in all training and in matches. Without a doubt, Yu is one of the best young men that I have had the privilege to work with and is very deserving of this honor.  He is a great example of the quality that exists in the Parkland College athletic programs."
