Parkland College Athletics named women's basketball player Emily Meinert as its December Female Athlete of the Month. Meinert's squad was 4-1 in the month of December and rose to #8 in the national polls.
 
The sophomore forward from Galesburg, Ill., averaged 15.2 points, 10 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game in the month of December. She scored a season-high 21 points on December 14th in a 5-point win over Rock Valley, and recorded two double-doubles in the month, adding to her four from November. The four wins improved the team's season record to 11-1 and earned a #8 national ranking.
 
"Emily put a lot of work in this offseason, and it has shown in her play on the court," stated head coach Allie Lindemann. "She has developed more of an outside presence and is a force in the paint.  She has been a leader both on and off the court and her work ethic proves to be unmatched."
