NORMAL, Ill. – The Parkland College golf team finished the 2021 Weibring Challenge on Tuesday with a tournament-best 12 over par score of 580 at the Weibring Golf Club in Normal, IL. The two-day tournament's individual title race ended in exciting fashion, with Parkland Sophomore Corey Neville losing in a three-way playoff to finish second.
 
The Cobras led the challenge by four strokes after the first day, shooting eight over as a team, but they saved their best performances for Tuesday. Parkland shot only four over as a team on Tuesday and won the Weibring Challenge by five strokes over second-place Heartland Blue.
 
Individually, Corey Neville led the way, finishing tied for second place after two playoff holes. Neville shot a 73 and 70 to finish with a final score of 143. Roo Fenwick was the second-best Cobra in Normal, shooting a 4-over 146, but the best round of the tournament belongs to Joel Petersson. The Swedish sophomore shot a disappointing 7-over on Monday, but responded with a 2-under, 69 on Tuesday to finish 5-over and tied for 8^th. Alex White and Scott O'Brien also competed, finishing T12 and T14 respectively.
 
Up next, Parkland travels to Jasper, Ind., to play in the MWAC Conference Championship. The tournament takes place on Monday, October 4, at the Sultan's Run Golf Club.
